Following rave reviews of the Grande Prairie production of "The Power of the Land", the Peace River Organic Producers Association (PROPA) was delighted to bring this performance to Dawson Creek. This show was a combination of live, original music, poetry, and visual images focusing on the 'power of the land'... how it feeds our bodies and our spirits with its bounty and its beauty.

Barry Milner of GeoTility Systems Corp answered all these questions and delivered a Powerpoint presentation to explain how GeoExchange systems work; system designs; the earth loop; the heat pump; the costs involved…and more. This workshop was sponsored by NLC, Peace Energy Cooperative, the City of Dawson Creek and the South Peace Chapter of the BC Sustainable Energy Association.

Guest speakers Emanuel Machado and Greg Dobrowolski presented on 'Planning Dawson Creek's Energy Future'. There was also a short letter writing workshop to help the public in writing letters to all levels of Government regarding energy planning.

January 24th (Dawson Creek) & January 25th 2007 (Tumbler Ridge) - The South Peace BCSEA Forum on Coal Fired Power.

Attendees learned about coal fired power technology and how it may affect their health and environment. Featured Karen Campbell, Staff Council and Policy Director BC, Matt Horne, Community Project Analyst, both from the Pembina Institute and Casey Brennan, Energy and Mining Program Manager from Wildsight for a discussion of the environmental and community health impacts from Hillsborough's proposed 184 MW AESWapiti coal fired electricity generation plant.

Guest speaker David Broadway talked about the Energy Savings Plan rebate program worth up to $2100 for Dawson Creek residents to improve their homes energy efficiency.
