The West Kootenay chapter meets in Rm L-15, Selkirk College, Castlegar, from 6-8pm on the third Wednesday of each month. Everyone welcome.

BCSEA West Kootenay Chapter Field Trip
Bright Ridge Farm, north of Castlegar BC

The West Kootenay meeting this month is going to be a field trip to the Bright Ridge Farm. Owners Frank and Lib Ruljancich will be giving a guided tour of their off grid, earth sheltered house, micro hydro power system, wood and solar water heating, root cellar and custom refrigeration, and amazing vegetable garden and fruit orchard.

People wishing to come should contact Adam James for carpooling information and directions. Bring a lunch, water, and good shoes.

This month's meeting was held in Grand Forks as part of the Community Sustainability Conference.

April 16, 2008 - BCSEA West Kootenay Chapter Meeting: Climate Change in the Columbia Basin

A presentation of climate change research findings from the Columbia Basin region was followed by a question and answer session featuring some of North America's foremost climate change research scientists, including:

• Robert Sandford – UN Water For Life Decade
• Michael Demuth – Glacier Specialist, Geological Survey of Canada
• Alan Hamlet – Hydrologist, University of Washington
• Hans Schreier – Watershed Specialist, University of British Columbia

Presented by the Columbia Basin Trust (CBT), the Kootenay Association for Science and Technology (KAST) and the City of Rossland.
