BCSEA filed its final argument in the BCUC proceeding regarding FortisBC’s rates for 2020 and 2021 late last week. Based on the financial evidence, BCSEA supported approval of rate increases of 1.0% for 2020 and 4.36% percent for 2021.
In response to questions from BCSEA, FBC said the COVID-19 pandemic has reduced FBC’s demand-side management spending and electricity savings down to about 80% of planned levels. However, FBC provided evidence that in light of the pandemic challenges it adjusted and enhanced its DSM measures and expects to achieve 90 percent of planned DSM spending in 2020. BCSEA commended FBC for steering the DSM portfolio through the difficult pandemic period.
