UBC Environmental Policy Association’s annual Sustainability Careers Night

Board members Diana Sollner and John Calimente were pleased to speak at the UBC Environmental Policy Association’s annual Sustainability Careers Night on March 17th. The UBC EPA is a group dedicated to analyzing economic and political responses to climate change, hosting a number of events to encourage public engagement in environmental policy. It is the first environmental group at UBC that analyzed economic and political responses to climate change.
It was a great experience to connect with students in their 3rd and 4th year of their undergraduate degrees who are looking to work in the fields of the environment and sustainability. We had the opportunity to hear about their current studies, areas of interest, and future goals. It was also a chance to promote the work of the BC Sustainable Energy Association and talk about our vision for a 100% sustainably powered province.
Not only was it a chance for the students to network, but we were able to meet speakers from other environmental organizations, including Green Sky Sustainability, ShareWares David Suzuki Foundation, Better Environmentally Sound Transportation, and Sierra Club BC. It was a very packed session so we look forward to following up with our contacts to talk about potential collaborations between our groups in the future.
