David Kassian

David Kassian is the Sustainability Supervisor with the City of Penticton, and has worked in local government for over 7 years implementing climate action and solid waste programs and policies. Through the development and implementation of Penticton’s 2021 Community Climate Action Plan and 2022 Corporate Energy and Emissions Plan, David has gained a holistic understanding of municipal climate action on both a community and corporate scale. The development of both climate action plans included targeted stakeholder engagement and broader community consultation as a key development component, which led to further programs such as the City’s Blue Skies Engagement Campaign.
In a previous volunteer role, David was the Co-Chair of the Town of Oliver’s Food Action Advisory Committee, which provided guidance and assisted with the development of the Food Secure Oliver Plan. Through David’s role with the City, he actively participates in several provincial climate action networks related to electric vehicles, EV Ready Bylaws, solid waste collection and recycling compliance.
Outside of work, David enjoys traveling with his family, spending time outdoors gardening and hunting, and can often be found reading science fiction novels and short stories.
