Message from Our Board Director - Jared Girman

As we approach the height of summer, communities across the province are rallying around sustainability initiatives. We here at BCSEA have some upcoming events such as Everything Electric, Energy Connections 2024, and WiSE 2024.  See more details below in this month’s newsletter.

With a hot BC summer in full swing, British Columbians can harness the power of the sun to significantly reduce their carbon footprint. Investing in solar panels can generate clean electricity to offset energy consumption. Additionally, exploring energy-efficient appliances, such as heat pumps, can provide both heating and cooling while reducing reliance on traditional energy sources. By embracing these sustainable options, we can contribute to a cleaner environment and potentially lower our energy bills.

We can also significantly lower our carbon footprint this summer through simple yet impactful actions. As mentioned in our June Newsletter using public transportation, biking, or walking for shorter trips while the weather is nice greatly reduces our reliance on personal vehicles. Embrace sustainable choices by prioritizing local and seasonal produce, reducing food waste, and conserving water. Consider energy-efficient practices at home by adjusting thermostats, opting for fans over air conditioning, and maximizing natural light while the days are longer can contribute to a greener future. Small changes can collectively make a big difference in combating climate change.

BCSEA is committed to supporting a sustainable future. Stay tuned for our upcoming webinars and events on energy efficiency and clean energy solutions. Let’s work together to build a cleaner and healthier environment for everyone.
