Energy Connections 2024

On September 17th, the BC Sustainable Energy Association (BCSEA) hosted the Energy Connections (EC) 2024 event, marking the revival of our flagship conference since the pause caused by COVID-19. EC 2024 brought together sustainability advocates, professionals, and industry leaders to discuss the latest innovations and challenges in the renewable energy sector.

The event featured compelling presentations from experts in the field. Dr. Curran Crawford, head of the University of Victoria’s Accelerating Community Energy Transformation (ACET) program, provided valuable insights into the critical role of community-driven energy solutions. Brian Douglas, Vice President of Sales at Charge Solar and a BCSEA Board member, offered a detailed update on the state of solar energy in British Columbia, highlighting the capacity for solar in BC, updates on the net metering program, and new incentive programs.

Attendees from diverse sectors including renewable energy, environmental consulting, and urban planning had the chance to network and exchange ideas while enjoying drinks and appetizers at Steamworks Brewpub in Vancouver. The scenic views of the waterfront and North Shore mountains provided a backdrop for engaging conversations about the future of sustainable energy in BC.

A special thanks to our sponsors Bill Andrews and Paul Tiefensee, without whom this event wouldn’t have been possible.  We also thank our speakers and attendees for their thought-provoking questions and active participation. BCSEA is already looking forward to making Energy Connections 2025 an even larger and more impactful event.
