Victoria chapter update

The Victoria Chapter Steering Committee met on Monday, June 2 and have three initiatives we are investigating.

Our Steering Committee member, Nathan Archibald is leading a project to create short (1-5 minute) videos, on a variety of topics,  to be shown on the BCSEA YouTube channel.  Nathan will create a demo video first  to  determine next steps.

The second initiative is a to create a demonstration electric bike charger that could be installed in  high schools, colleges, or university campuses.  Our Steering Committee member Alan Kniesz is leading this project.  Our team has met with an engineering professor at the University of Victoria who has expressed some interest in the project.  We’ll also be contacting Camosun college and Royal Roads University.

Lastly our Steering Committee Erik Minty will explore advocacy for a Property Assessed Clean Energy (PACE) program. This program advocates to  make it more viable for homeowners to install solar panels.  PACE has been tried in a number of jurisdictions and the first task will be to research what kinds of roadblocks, if any, there have been with previous programs.

We are also hoping to do some tabling at local events over the summer in the Greater Victoria Area and are actively seeking events that we could participate in.
