Northen Momentum Is Building
The BCSEA Prince George Chapter is gaining real traction across northern British Columbia.
Through consistent monthly Steering Committee meetings aligned with provincial sessions, we are ensuring northern voices are actively represented and connected to BCSEA’s broader mission.
Education in Motion
While Cool It Climate Leadership Training has not yet launched locally, meaningful progress is underway. Following engagement with the Energy Transformation Group in Prince George, a presentation at UNBC sparked strong interest in bringing Cool It north. The ETG Chair is now in active discussion with BCSEA’s Cool It Director, and these follow up meetings has moved us closer to pilot consideration.
Momentum is real.
Northern Resource Show Impact
At the recent Northern BC Resource Show, our team circulated BCSEA magazines and QR coded membership cards, introducing many new attendees to our work.
Local Steering Committee members also sponsored the Mining for Beer event at Trench Brewery to expand exposure. Our presence at a mining focused gathering sparked powerful conversations about the essential role mining plays in electrification and how British Columbia’s mineral wealth is critical to reaching Net Zero. The response was encouraging and energizing.
Growing Northern Alignment
We welcomed Rob Van Adrichem of NorCan and the Community Energy Association to a Steering Committee meeting earlier this year, strengthening collaboration across northern climate and energy networks.
What’s Next
Energy Connections 2026 on April 27 and WiSE 2026 in the fall present major opportunities for northern engagement. Our next meeting will also welcome a new Steering Committee member.
Electrification is accelerating. Climate transition is local. Northern relevance is growing.
