Message from our Board Member - Tatyana Soboleva
This month, I had the privilege of participating in our Board’s strategic planning session on the beautiful British Columbia’s West Coast to reflect on where BCSEA is today and where we want to be in the future.
What stood out to me was the level of engagement around the table and the shared commitment to serving our members and the broader community. While we discussed priorities, goals, and emerging challenges, our conversations continually returned to three important themes: connection, trust, and influence.
We reflected on the importance of community engagement and education. Through our local chapters, education programs, and the dedication of volunteers across the province, BCSEA is uniquely positioned to connect communities, share knowledge, and encourage participation in the transition to a clean energy future.
As we considered BCSEA’s role in the years ahead, we agreed that our greatest strength lies in being an independent and credible voice for sustainable energy. In a world where information is abundant but not always reliable, BCSEA has an important role in providing accurate, balanced, and evidence-based information. Our members and partners rely on us to help navigate complex issues, and we remain committed to earning and maintaining that trust.
Another key area of discussion was the role BCSEA can play in shaping energy and environmental policy in British Columbia. As a respected voice in the sector, we have an opportunity to contribute thoughtful perspectives and facilitate constructive dialogue among government, industry, and citizens. Effective policy is built through collaboration, and BCSEA is committed to help bridge perspectives and advance practical solutions.
I left the session feeling energized by the dedication of my fellow Board members and excited about BCSEAs future contributions to the clean energy transition in BC. We had a strong sense of alignment around our purpose: connect communities, provide trusted information, and support sound policy development to advance sustainable energy for the benefit of all British Columbians.
From our Vice Chair, Brian Douglas:
‘Following a very successful two-day strategic planning session, BCSEA is focused on strengthening its role as British Columbia’s trusted and independent voice in sustainable energy by expanding community engagement, elevating education and awareness, bringing together industry, government, and communities, and playing a more active role in shaping a clean and inclusive energy future for the province.
BCSEA will continue to engage closely with its core membership to align on shared priorities, ensuring that efforts and resources are directed toward the most impactful initiatives that benefit British Columbians and support the province’s continued progress toward meaningful carbon reduction.’
Warm Regards,
