This webinar will introduce the UBC Energy Mapping project which supports community energy planning in BC through resource mapping and spatial analyses. We will present early findings on the generation potential of rooftop and utility-scale solar in BC and share our plans to co-develop mapping tools with communities. The webinar will also provide an overview of BC Hydro’s Community Generation Service Rate which comes into effect on July 1, 2026 and allows community projects to export up to 2 MW of power to the grid. We’ll share relevant questions for communities to consider and invite a dialogue in the Q&A.
