Autumn is my favorite season. This year in particular, after a summer filled with extreme heat and tragic wildfires, the cooler weather and vibrant, colourful leaves are very much welcomed.
The BCSEA stayed busy over these past few months. As BC Hydro experienced record-breaking peak demand, our policy team provided feedback on the draft 2021 Integrated Resource Plan, aiming to influence the utility’s approach prior to the IRP’s expected submission to the BCUC in December. We took ownership of the Switch It Up BC campaign, finalized our 2021/2022 budget, and welcomed Stephen Hargreaves to the Board of Directors.
The fast pace continues into the final months of this year. We’re excited to welcome back Melanie Lazelle, returning from maternity leave, to push forward the Cool-It program for high schools and community groups. We’ve joined the West Coast Climate Action Network and we’re revamping our website and CRM with the help of RFDM Solutions. We have a few webinars in the works including an introduction to Carbon Accounting and Home Electrification. Our Annual General Meeting is scheduled for November 27th, where we will reflect on this year’s events and vote on Board Directors.
BCSEA is looking for members to join our Board to oversee some of our on-going initiatives and programming. Now coming into my third term, my personal experience with the BCSEA Board has been immensely rewarding. We have dedicated leadership thanks to the tireless efforts of Jonathan Ho and Diana Sollner. We work with talented, highly regarded energy policy experts and award winning entrepreneurs. Our Chapter Steering committees are always engaged and involved within their communities, and our staff and contractors are some of the finest. Please consider joining the Board [LINK to call out] and supporting the BCSEA with your time and expertise.
