On behalf of the BCSEA Board of Directors, staff, and volunteers – we wish you and your family a year full of health, success, and happiness.  Welcome to 2021!

Apparently, the number 21 is connected with luck, risk, taking chances, and rolling the dice. It’s the number of spots on a standard dice and also the name of a family of card games, including blackjack that are popular with gamblers. All of which seems strangely appropriate for a year of unusual uncertainty. The great prize on offer is the chance of bringing the coronavirus pandemic under control. But in the meantime risks abound, to health, economic vitality, and social stability.  Despite the rollout of vaccines in the closing weeks of 2020, the road to recovery from the global pandemic remains challenging. Economies have been badly affected by COVID-19, and many of these effects will be felt for years. Addressing this will take all the resources of the public and private sector working together to promote a truly sustainable recovery.
As mentioned in BCSEA’s December 2020 Newsletter, the Board has started a series of virtual strategic planning workshops.  One thing is for certain – short and long-term goal setting and strategy execution during a global pandemic is not something anyone can claim they have experience in.  It is at times like these when we need to remember our purpose and translate our ambition into action to drive positive change in 2021 and beyond.
The strength of an organization like BCSEA comes from its people and we are looking forward to working with our Chapters to create an organization more capable of adapting and innovating to whatever comes next.
Stay tuned for the strategic planning updates and as always, feel free to let us your thoughts and ideas.
